Here it is Pios – the Winter Assembly! WESTERNDCC was able to capture the assembly in all its glory and much more! Have you ever wanted to see your favorite teacher shuffle? Well, make sure to watch this for the faculty’s big show! Thanks to everyone who came out and made this assembly one you’ll never forget.

Here’s another study we do early in Digital Animation – the walk cycle.  As common and mundane and as walking may be, there’s a lot to learn here, especially if you want to go into animation.  Once you break a walk cycle down, you’ll have a much better appreciation for a task we accomplish daily without really even knowing it.

This assignment in Digital Animation helps students get better familiarized with character turnarounds and keyframing.  A simple figure eight motion turns into complex drawings and timing requirements.

Here’s a study we did in Digital Animation about the principles of a bouncing ball.  This is typically the first assignment animation students do — it shows them a lot about the fundamental concepts of animation; starting with the squash and stretch principle.

The Spanish for Spanish Speakers 3 students had to write a brief newscast.  They were instructed to write an original event using the present tense.  Students had 30 minutes to write the story, and present.  The purpose of the activity was to focus on present tense narration, and presentation skills.

My AP Spanish Language students researched the background of some famous/legendary/important Hispanics.  They worked as a group to put together a PowerPoint (served as background information) and they had the option to do their own interpretation of some part of the person’s life or write a scene where they  interviewed that person.

As usual, Western kicked off Homecoming season with a bang! Just as expected, the NEW 2011-2012 Homecoming King was revealed but little did our fellow Western students know that they were in for a scare. Thanks to the video production film crew, Mr. Smith won the Knott’s Berry Farm Monster Makeover! Check it out to see how it all went down!

Western High Schools very own ASB put on a fabulous fashion show for all the students at lunch. The fashion show was to encourage the students to dress up for the next weeks sprirt week, which included different outfits such as: men in black, wizards and greasers. Check it out!
