This project is a representation of Cervantes’ masterpiece El ingenioso don Quijote de la Mancha.  The AP Spanish Literature students created a children’s book in which they summarized and analyzed the main ideas exposed in the novel.  The students then had to creatively advertise their book to make it appealing for reading and purchasing.

For the 2012 Battle of the Sexes event, the girls came out on fire! They dominated the guys in almost all the activities and took the win in the end. Although guys are known to be much stronger, the ladies had all the smarts and swiftness. Better luck next year, guys!

Western Pioneers did it again! This year Western High School hosted its 8th annual Chalk Art event. This is an event hosted during International week where Western students have the chance to demonstrate their culture and heritage through beautiful art work. The talent this year was incredible, every single piece of art work had its own unique touch making it stand out from the rest. It’s so admirable to see people from different cultures coming together and celebrating each others individuality. The Chalk Art event should remain at Western High School for years to come. It is an extraordinary combination of culture and art.

Our very own Kaylee Puailoa officially signed with the University of Georgia on November 10, 2011.  Kaylee’s high school career was filled with incredibly memorable moments and we’re all eager to see her continue to grow and thrive at the highest collegiate level!  Congrats, Kaylee!

Well, make sure to watch this for the faculty’s big show! Thanks to everyone who came out and made this assembly one you’ll never forget.

Here’s another study we do early in Digital Animation – the walk cycle.  As common and mundane and as walking may be, there’s a lot to learn here, especially if you want to go into animation.  Once you break a walk cycle down, you’ll have a much better appreciation for a task we accomplish daily without really even knowing it.

This assignment in Digital Animation helps students get better familiarized with character turnarounds and keyframing.  A simple figure eight motion turns into complex drawings and timing requirements.

Here’s a study we did in Digital Animation about the principles of a bouncing ball.  This is typically the first assignment animation students do — it shows them a lot about the fundamental concepts of animation; starting with the squash and stretch principle.

The Spanish for Spanish Speakers 3 students had to write a brief newscast.  They were instructed to write an original event using the present tense.  Students had 30 minutes to write the story, and present.  The purpose of the activity was to focus on present tense narration, and presentation skills.
